Jamaica Energy Partners Group collected over 1,900 pounds of garbage during its annual beach cleanup to tackle one environmental issue plaguing our country – pollution.
As environmental stewards, it is our mission – Jamaica Energy Partners, West Kingston Power Partners, Jamaica Private Power Company and leaders in electric vehicle charging, Evergo Jamaica – to make a difference in our environment in any way we can.
This year we decided to consolidate efforts with the Rotary Club of Liguanea Plains, BirdLife Jamaica, Heart Trust/NSTA and students from the University of Technology and the University of West Indies, Mona – to achieve a more sustainable environment, not only for us but also for generations to come.
Under the theme, “Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica”, volunteers from all organisations sifted through garbage and debris to identify, separate, and document items to ensure safe and appropriate removal from the coastline.
At the end of the exercise, the team collected more than 120 bags of plastic waste! The cleanup forms a part of JEP’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – 3 (Good Health & Well-Being), 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation), 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities), 14 (Life Below Water) and 15 (Life on Land).
