JEP Cricket League Celebrates 26 Years of Community Development and Sporting Excellence

Champions, Talent and Community on Display in 2026 Season

The 2026 staging of the JEP T20 Bash delivered another standout season, reinforcing the league’s role as one of the most impactful community cricket programmes in Jamaica.

In a competitive Grand Final, Bridgeport Super Sixers secured their fifth consecutive title, defeating Greater Portmore by 21 runs in a well-contested match that showcased both skill and resilience.

Posting 134 for 7, led by a solid 62 from Kevon Lettman, Bridgeport successfully defended their total, limiting Greater Portmore to 113 for 8 at the close of their innings.

A League That Continues to Develop Talent

Beyond the results, the 2026 season highlighted the strength of the league as a development platform. Several teams featured players representing Jamaica at various levels, including Under-15, Under-17, Under-19 and senior national squads.

Clubs such as Bridgeport Super Sixers, Greater Portmore and Victorian Eagles included players with experience at the national level, reinforcing the league’s importance in nurturing and showcasing emerging talent.

This consistent presence of national representatives underscores the quality of competition and the league’s contribution to Jamaica’s cricket pipeline.

Recognising Outstanding Performances

Individual performances across the competition further demonstrated the depth of talent within the league.

  • Top Batsman: Jamie Hay (Basement) – 314 runs
  • Top Bowler: Kern Duckett (Bridgeport Super Sixers) – 13 wickets
  • Most Valuable Player: Jamie Hay – 314 runs and 12 wickets

These performances reflect the high standard of play and the opportunities the league provides for players to excel and gain recognition.

More Than Cricket: A Platform for Community Engagement

Now in its 26th year, the JEP Cricket League continues to serve as a vital platform for community engagement.

The league creates a structured environment for youth participation, promotes discipline and teamwork, and provides a positive outlet for recreation. It also brings together families, supporters and communities, strengthening social connections across participating areas.

A Continued Investment in People and Potential

“This league represents more than competition. It is a space where young people are given the opportunity to grow, to develop discipline and to build confidence through sport,” said Wayne McKenzie. “Over the years, we have seen the positive impact it has had on communities, and we remain committed to ensuring that it continues to serve as a pathway for development and opportunity.”

Sustaining a Legacy of Impact

The continued success of the league, both in participation and performance, reflects the value of sustained investment in community-based programmes.

As the JEP Cricket League marks 26 years, it remains a strong example of how corporate support can contribute to national development, while fostering talent and building community pride.

With each season, the league continues to grow, not only as a competition, but as a platform that supports the future of cricket and the communities it represents.
