JEP Group has expanded its Scholarship Programme into St. Elizabeth through its affiliate, InterEnergy Jamaica Wind (IJW), extending an initiative that has invested more than J$100 million in Jamaican students over the past three decades.
The expansion represents another significant milestone for one of Jamaica’s longest-running private sector educational support programmes and reinforces the Group’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people through access to quality education.
Through the addition of St. Elizabeth, students within communities served by InterEnergy Jamaica Wind will now have access to educational assistance that has helped shape the lives and careers of generations of Jamaicans.
Since its inception, the Scholarship Programme has provided financial support to students at the secondary and tertiary levels, helping to reduce barriers to educational achievement while promoting personal growth, leadership and community involvement.
While the programme provides critical financial assistance, its impact extends beyond tuition support. Recipients are encouraged to become active contributors to their communities through volunteerism, environmental stewardship and community engagement.
One example of the programme’s long-term impact is former scholarship recipient, Dr Yanique Montague-Williams, who now volunteers at JEP Group community health fairs, providing free medical care to residents in underserved communities. Having once benefited from the programme herself, Dr Montague-Williams now uses her professional expertise to serve others, demonstrating how educational investment can create a cycle of opportunity and community development.
Dr Montague-Williams’ journey from scholarship recipient to medical doctor and community volunteer reflects the broader objective of the Scholarship Programme. By investing in students and encouraging a culture of service, JEP Group seeks to develop future leaders who contribute positively to Jamaica’s social and economic development. Many former scholarship recipients have gone on to pursue careers in medicine, engineering, education, business and public service.

Scholarship recipients are encouraged to participate in environmental projects, community outreach initiatives and other activities that promote sustainable community development.

- Secondary-level students are selected in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information.
- Tertiary-level students who meet the programme’s eligibility requirements may apply directly through JEP Group.
