Supporting Farmers as Communities Rebuild
In the wake of recent challenges impacting agricultural communities, Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP) Group continues to play an active role in recovery efforts through targeted farmer support and training initiatives.
As part of its ongoing community engagement programme, the company recently hosted a specialised training session focused on drip irrigation and water harvesting techniques, equipping farmers with practical tools to improve resilience and productivity.

Building Resilience Through Knowledge and Resources
The training brought together 17 farmers from Malvern, St. Elizabeth, home to JEP’s affiliate, InterEnergy Jamaica Wind, providing hands-on guidance in climate-smart agricultural practices.
Participants were also provided with essential inputs, including seeds and water storage tanks, enabling the immediate application of the techniques introduced.
This combined approach ensures that farmers are not only informed, but also equipped to implement sustainable, long-term solutions within their operations.
A Focus on Long-Term Agricultural Recovery
The initiative forms part of JEP Group’s broader Phase 2 recovery efforts, which move beyond immediate relief to focus on long-term rebuilding and sustainability.
By supporting farmers in strengthening their production systems, the programme helps to restore livelihoods while contributing to food security within affected communities.
These efforts are particularly important in rural areas where agriculture remains a key economic driver.

Strengthening Communities Through Partnership
The training initiative also reflects the value of collaboration, with support from key partners to ensure the delivery of technical expertise and resources.
Through these partnerships, JEP Group continues to extend its impact, delivering programmes that are both practical and responsive to the evolving needs of the communities it serves.
A Continued Commitment to Community Development
“This initiative is about more than recovery. It is about building resilience and ensuring that our communities are better prepared for the future,” said Wayne McKenzie.
“We recognise the importance of agriculture to the livelihoods of many families, and we remain committed to supporting farmers as they rebuild and strengthen their operations.”
Looking Ahead
JEP Group will continue to expand its recovery efforts to include additional initiatives such as school support programmes, community health activities and environmental projects, all aimed at strengthening resilience and promoting sustainable development.
