In his remarks, he underscored the urgent need for greater interdisciplinary collaboration as a driving force behind national transformation. Drawing on impactful examples from across the Caribbean, including Jamaica’s Traffic Management Centre, Barbados’ renewable energy advancements, and local agri-tech initiatives, he illustrated how engineering and computing, when integrated, have the power to create smarter, more resilient systems.

“Our most effective solutions are not solo acts—they are ensembles”, he shared, emphasising that the future of development lies in shared innovation and the merging of technical disciplines.

He also challenged students and faculty to make the most of UTech’s unique position as one of the few regional institutions where engineering and computing co-exist under one roof.

“The person beside you is not just another student—they might be your future collaborator or business partner”, he noted.

As a leading energy company dedicated to sustainable and scalable solutions, JEP Group continues to invest in initiatives that inspire collaboration, innovation, and homegrown problem-solving.

We remain committed to supporting platforms that develop Jamaica’s next generation of engineers, technologists, and changemakers.
