JEP’s First-Ever Virtual Health Fair Caters to the Medical Needs of 100 Old Harbour Bay Residents

Due to a recent COVID-19 spiral in Old Harbour Bay (OHB), this year, Jamaica Energy Partners capitalised on telemedicine to ensure the safety of OHB residents and JEP employees and volunteers. From June 9 to 11, 2021, 100 persons, through MDLink’s virtual platform, received free medical consultations in the comfort of their homes. The current pandemic has revolutionised how we execute face-to-face CSR events like our annual health & wellness fairs, but thankfully, there have been no cancellations.
Our commitment to sustaining healthy communities led us to partner with the Old Harbour Bay Community Development Association (CDA), where members assisted the residents with accessing the ‘telemed’ technology. To ensure the success of this new initiative, the CSR team also piloted a brief training session with the CDA members on how to use MDLink’s website. Over the three-day period, volunteers visited the patient’s homes to complete their registration process, securing an appointment time to speak with a general practitioner. After consulting with the doctor, patients who required medication had their prescriptions sent to Prescription Plus Pharmacy in Old Harbour for processing.
A big thank you to all partners, including Beulah Baptist Institutional Church, Nxt Gen Network, MDLink, Prescription Plus Pharmacy and the Old Harbour Bay Community Development Association. Beulah Baptist, who is a long-standing partner, covered over 50% of our health fair budget with their donation this year.
