Powering Jamaica’s Recovery: JEP Group’s Hurricane Melissa Relief Efforts

In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, one of the most damaging systems to strike Jamaica in recent years, the Jamaica Energy Partners Group mobilised quickly to support national relief and recovery efforts. Through the launch of the Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund, we activated Phase 1 of our response, focused on emergency relief and essential community support. This included clearing critical roadways in Westmoreland and coordinating the staggered deployment of 120 medical professionals from International Medical Relief (IMR), a global humanitarian organisation dedicated to providing medical care and health education to underserved communities. These medical teams have been assigned to support operations at the Black River Hospital. To help restore connectivity in severely affected areas, the Group will also donate Starlink systems to hospitals where communication services were disrupted.

Our first outreach mission brought volunteers to Fullersfield and Paul Island in Westmoreland, where care packages were distributed to families most impacted by the storm. Supported by transportation partners and dedicated staff across the Group, this effort marks the beginning of a wider series of relief activities. Upcoming outreach missions are scheduled for St James, Hanover, and St Elizabeth as we continue to extend support to communities that remain in urgent need.

As we commemorate our 30th anniversary, these relief efforts reflect the core of who we are as a company. For three decades, the Jamaica Energy Partners Group has been committed to strengthening the communities we serve, and our response to Hurricane Melissa underscores this purpose. With Phase 2 of our relief plan focused on rebuilding and long-term recovery, we remain steadfast in our mission: together, powering Jamaica’s recovery.
